ABOUT
Girls Metro Hockey League (GMHL)
The GMHL has been operating for over 15-years under various formats. In recent years the program experienced an explosion in player growth and participation. Today, the GMHL includes over 400+ players and several certified Coaches, Team Managers, Trainers, and Volunteers.
The GMHL is is comprised of seven St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Metro area Minor Hockey Associations including:
CBR, Goulds, Mount Pearl, Northeast, Paradise, Southern Shore and St. John's Minor.
The league is governed by a group of directors each representing their home minor hockey association along with the Eastern Co-Ordinator from Hockey NL.
The league offers on-ice skill development and competitive-play programs for Girls Under 9, 11, 13, 15 and 18.
Under 9 is our grass roots program focused on skill development and includes a number of team-play games and jamborees.
Our U11, 13, 15 and 18 teams experience skill development along with league play including regular season and playoffs, invitational tournaments, and a year-end Provincial tournament.
While not governed by the GMHL, we do support and feed programs offered by the DJHL for Girls U13 and by Hockey NL AAA for Girls U13, U15 and U18.
Most importantly, the GMHL promotes and supports fun, healthy on and off ice activity, team play, and community giveback.
The GMHL receives oversight and direction from our affiliated Minor Hockey Branches, Hockey NL, and Hockey Canada.
